This first volume of Forgotten History (1939-1945), letters A and B, is part of an exhaustive series of several works, which constitutes a particularly innovative editorial project.

The unprecedented military collapse and the German invasion of May-June 1940, recalled by the historian and resistant Marc Bloch in the strange defeat, had led to the confinement of more than 16,000 Périgordins by birth, adoption or circumstances, of Girondins from the cantons attached to Périgord by virtue of the demarcation line of Pujols-sur-Dordogne and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, as well as that of 4,000 other soldiers in German uniform assigned to the Brantôme camp (1945-1948).

Rigorous evocation, based on multiple sources, these biographies are intended to be the basis of a reflection on the largely unknown ordeals that our captives endured in Fronstalags, Stalags or Oflags.

Readers will find there the evocation of parents, relatives, inhabitants of their commune, whose memory had been too forgotten until now.

This publication has been produced with the help of many contributors.
