I, Lawrence of Arabia looking for Richard the Lionheart in France
Author: Guy Penaud
Is there a ruler more legendary than Richard the Lionheart and adventurer more prodigious than Lawrence of Arabia? Probably not. No wonder he traveled the roads of France in search of places where his favorite hero had left his mark by his royal presence.
Without forgetting Chinon where Richard the Lionheart's father died, Henry II, Fontevraud, where his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, died, and Châlus where, Richard received his mortal wound, all the places of the French empire of the Plantagenets trodden byRichard I, called Lionheart, were visited by bicycle by Thomas Edward Lawrence, said of Arabia, the year of his twenty years. The latter lent his pen to the author of this book to tell his extraordinary France tour that really took place during the summer of 1908.
Guy Penaud, former police commissioner, historian and novelist, has published numerous books over the past forty years.
