Authors: Phlippe CHAMBOST - Pascal MARZIANO - Arnaud SERPOLLET

Preface : Jean-Jacques WATTEL

This book traces a certain "revolution" of French ceramics from the immediate post-war period to the present day. With the support of unpublished archives, studio collections and publications, the authors deal with practices around earthenware and sandstone, from sculpted form to turned form. While the work of color accompanies the liberation of line and form in Paris and Vallauris, sandstone is a school in La Borne and Ratilly.

Philippe Chambost, Pascal Marziano and Arnaud Serpollet have brought together their collections and knowledge to deal with this aspect of the decorative arts of the twentieth century.

These artists are decorators, graphic designers, sculptors, turners, actors... ceramists rarely self-taught. From the 40s, they are called Capron, Chambost, Fouquet, Lerat, Pouchol or Jouve. Then we discover Deblander, Pierlot, Ruelland or Schultze... alongside Borderie, Masson, Schlegel and other 2 potters; they symbolize this boom in the art of the earth which offers, during the Glorious Thirties, new forms of expression.

The authors describe these singular journeys through a selection of a hundred artists. They also give space to today's actors, whether they are creators, ceramists or visual artists, gallery owners or specialized antique dealers.

Preface by Jean-Jacques Wattel, expert in decorative arts of thetwentieth century and Design.
