ACCORDING TO THE DIARIES OF MARIE-FRANCE SIEGLER-LATHROP

AUTHOR: MARIE-FRANCE SIEGLER-LATHROP

The meeting of the author Marie-France Siegler-Lathrop with Jacques Tati, followed by eighteen years of collaboration, is certainly the highlight of his life.

She believes that her whole life has been "guided" to this meeting.

From the first interview, they talked about cinema, their projects, their ideas, like two complicit kids. When he parted, he asked Marie-France if she knew any Americans, to appear in his film in preparation. In an excess of optimism, or perhaps nerve, she said:

- I knew a lot of them. "In America, yes of course... ».

Still, she managed, she found a dozen American women, and Tati hired her.

The next day, he was given a list of extras to find "in the street".

At twenty-four, she was casting Jacques Tati! She continued to work as an intern on PLAYTIME, then as a first assistant on TRAFIC and PARADE. During this time, she was making short films.

They often talked about death with Tati, and she would tell him, "We will always be connected by an invisible thread, which goes from there to then," while making the heart-to-heart gesture. Subsequently, she directed her feature film "THE INVISIBLE THREAD".

During all these years, she wrote a "diary". "Ce Que Je raconterai à Tati Lundi" is as much my autobiography as a personal testimony of this exceptional being that was Jacques Tati.
